A group of 15 Church of the Brethren members living in the Woodbridge area met in early May, 1956 and with the
assistance of the Strategy Committee of the Eastern District of Virginia, organized the Woodbridge Church of the Brethren Fellowship. Reverend Glen Weimer, Pastor of the Arlington Church of the Brethren, was elected as first Moderator. Regular Sunday evening
services and meditation meetings began on June 3, 1956 at the home of Manley Garber.
The Church was
formally organized as a congregation on August 5, 1956. On September 1, 1956, Reverend Harold Moyer, former Associate Pastor
of the Washington City Church of the Brethren, became the first pastor of the Woodbridge Church. Ground was broken April 21,
1957 for the first unit of the Church building. 325 persons attended the building dedication on September 21, 1958.

In the New Testament, the word brethren
describes the kinship of men and women who chose another way of living: the way of Jesus. The Church of the Brethren, begun almost
300 years ago in Germany, still draws people who want to continue Jesus' work of loving service.
Brethren look to the scriptures rather than to doctrine. Our faith emphasizes compassion, peacemaking, and simplicity. We baptize
those who seek to follow Jesus; we anoint for healing; and in our love feast we reenact the last supper, at which Jesus washed his
disciples' feet and offered the bread and cup of communion.
Brethren work locally and worldwide to help victims
of war, poverty, and natural disasters. We believe that when Jesus showed us another way of living, he intended it to nourish and
hearten the entire human family.
